    Description

    Wabash, IN- Upper Wabash Bank $5 Mar. 1, 1854 G6 Wolka 848-3
The Upper Wabash Bank was one of a bumper crop of Free Banks that opened in 1854 and failed by the following year. According to state records (which were apparently somewhat inaccurate) there was no known outstanding circulation, with all notes having been redeemed at par. This note obviously did not get accounted for somehow. A pleasant evenly circulated example, this note grades PMG Very Fine 25 without any qualifiers.
