    Description

Syracuse, IN- Bank of Syracuse $5 18__ G4 Wolka 790-3 Proof
The bank opened in 1854 and was somewhat successful, at least by Indiana Free Bank standards, voluntarily winding up its affairs in approximately 1857. In 1874, there was still $1,743 in outstanding circulation. This pretty black and white proof has a center vignette of a herd of horses galloping away as well as a portrait of Henry Clay. PCGS has graded this note Very Choice New 64PPQ, noting that it has the normally expected small POCs in the signature lines. As nice as the day it was printed.
