    Lafayette, IN- Brown & Tilford at Lafayette Bank 25¢ Nov. 25, 1862 Wolka 354-3 / 1080-04 (2018) Very Fine.
This merchant partnership is believed to have been made up of T.M. Brown, who is listed as a merchant in the 1860 census for Lafayette and James Hannah Telford/Tilford (the name is spelled differently in the 1860 and 1870 census records) who was a pork and cattle packer. The Lafayette Bank was apparently a local private bank in business during the 1860s. Wolka estimates there are between 11 and 25 surviving examples of this denomination.
