    Description

Tallahassee, FL- State of Florida $2 Mar. 1, 1863 Cr. 18 PMG Extremely Fine 40.
Research by Ron Benice indicates that around 12,600 $2s were issued under chapter 1372 of the Laws of Florida enacted on December 13, 1862. Printed by Keatinge & Ball, the note features pre-war vignettes of Ceres, a passenger train, and a native American woman. The note also has a large red-orange TWO protector. The note saw limited time in circulation and survived the experience without suffering any repairs or meaningful impairments. Equally important in today's market, the protector does not have any oxidation issues.
