    Description

Stonington, CT- Stonington Bank $1 Jan. 1, 1865 G8a PCGS Very Fine 20.
While this design is common as a remainder, the same cannot be said for fully issued notes such as this example. The oval portrait of Ephraim Williams, the bank's third president who had passed away in 1861, appears at left while a sailor reclining on a dock gazes out to sea in the middle vignette. A small round vignette of a smaller sailing vessel appears at right.
