    Description

Hartford, CT- Talcott & Post at Charter Oak Bank 5¢ Oct. 1, 1862 PCGS Extremely Fine 40.
This merchant partnership probably consisted of Caleb M. Talcott and William H. Post who both were living in District 3 of Hartford according to the 1860 Federal Census. There are a number of Talcotts listed as merchants, so this attribution may be open to adjustment. The notes were payable in current funds at the firm's bank, the Charter Oak Bank, where a special deposit secured the notes. Fully issued with some mounting remnants on the back as noted by PCGS.
