    Description

Hartford, CT- Hartford Bank $1 18__ as G72b Proof PMG Choice Uncirculated 64.
The Hartford Bank was organized circa 1792 and remained in business until succeeded by the Hartford National Bank in 1865. This $1 design incorporates a center vignette of Commerce and Prosperity supporting an oval portrait of Washington flanked by oval portraits of a young woman and popular singer Jenny Lind. There are two red 1 protectors in addition to a light red overall tint. The note is printed on India paper with the usual small POCs in the signature lines. There were seventeen of this variety in several lots in the 1990 ABNCo Archives sale. While not rare, nothing diminishes the beauty of the note.
