    Description

    Hartford, CT- City Bank of Hartford $5 18__ as G14 Proof PMG Gem Uncirculated 66 EPQ.
    The bank was chartered in 1851 and remained in business until 1865 when the bank became the City National Bank of Hartford. This design features vignettes of Proserpina and Liberty flanking a large center vignette of Moneta gazing a a shield depicting a deer. There is a large gray FIVE protector and a dog head vignette at bottom center. The note is printed on India paper mounted on cardstock with the usual POCs in the signature lines affixed to the original Danforth Bald archive book card. There were ten examples of this design included in the ABNCo Archive holdings.
