    Description

Hartford, CT- Bank of Hartford County $5 18__ as G8 Proof PMG Choice Uncirculated 63.
The $5 design features the state treasurer die at right (this note was designed to be used during the bank's "free bank" period) and a detailed vignette of a passenger train emerging from under a bridge at left. A small vignette of a maiden in water is below, The note is printed on India paper with the usual small POCs in the signature lines. PMG has noted an "as made" paper wrinkle as well as evidence that the note had been previously mounted. This evidence is virtually impossible to locate through the holder. There were sixteen examples of this note in the 1990 ABNCo Archives sale.
