Danbury, CT- Pahquioque Bank $2 18__ G34b Proof PMG Choice Uncirculated 64.
The bank was in operation from 1854 to 1865 when it became the National Pahquioque Bank. This note displays a well done vignette of two milk cows, a farm girl assisting with the harvest, and the state treasurer's die indicating that the bank was operating as a Free Bank and is printed on India paper. While Haxby lists this as a reprint, its printing quality suggests otherwise. It was sold as part of the Schingoethe Collection in 2006 where it was adjudged to be a period proof, and is also certified as such by PMG.
