    Description

Bridgeport, CT- Connecticut Bank $3 18__ G44 Proof PMG Choice Uncirculated 64 EPQ.
The bank was organized in 1831 and remained in business until 1865 when it became the Connecticut National Bank of Bridgeport, The design's focal point is a maritime scene showing two ships under full sail passing each other. It is flanked by vignettes of an allegorical female holding a trident and Proserpina. There is a small steamboat vignette at bottom center. The note is printed on India paper mounted on light cardstock without cancellations. With two examples of this design in the ABNCo Archives sale and at least one known to Haxby, most sources estimate the surviving proof population of this design at between three and four notes.
