DescriptionColumbus, GA- Western Insurance and Trust Co. of the City of Columbus $500 Certificate of Trust 18__ Special Proof PCGS Apparent Very Choice New 64.
This is a so-called "Special Proof", produced by ABNCo from the original plates in the 20th century for various sales and promotion purposes. In many cases, like this one, the only way for collectors to obtain an example of excessively rare or unknown notes is via the Special Proof route. The Certificate presents a striking appearance with a classic Rawdon, Wright & Hatch vignette of hippocampi pulling a shell chariot that holds Neptune and Salacia flanked by two mammoth D counters. PCGS notes some paper scuffs at the top that do not have any impact on the printed portions of the design.
