Little Rock, AR - Corporation of Little Rock $1 Dec. 13, 1839
A neat piece of early Arkansas scrip that is seldom seen in any grade. This particular piece was made payable to and is endorsed on the back by Albert Pike, the famous Arkansas newspaperman and lawyer who later became infamous for his stint as a Brigadier General in the Confederate Army. A regiment of Cherokee troops was under his command during the battle of Pea Ridge, where they collected about 25 Yankee scalps. Pike quickly lost his command when the scandal became public knowledge. Very Good-Fine, with a couple of minor stains that are immaterial to the overall appearance.
