Little Rock, AR- Bank of the State of Arkansas $10 G42 Rothert 400-2 PMG Gem Uncirculated 66 EPQ Proof.
A Native American brandishing a rather threatening looking tomahawk comprises this note's central vignette. This Proof is denoted as coming from the bank's headquarters in Little Rock, but was meant to be payable at any of the bank's branches. The Bank of the State of Arkansas was truly a state bank, with the stock all held by the state. It opened in 1837 and, after suspending specie payments in 1839, made a quick journey to receivership by 1843. This lovely Proof is as nice as any example we have seen from this much collected institution.
