Fort Smith City, AR- Mayers Brothers, (Druggists) 50¢ Jan. 9, 1862
This is an interesting piece of multi-state/territorial store scrip issued by the Mayers Brothers in Fort Smith, Arkansas and pen signed by them and printed on thin brown paper. It was redeemable at several other emporiums in Arkansas, the Indian Territory, as well as by J.M. Smoot of Denton, Texas. This scrip is listed in the Rothert reference for Arkansas and the Medlar reference for Texas. This note does
not have the Mayers Brothers red overstamp. Fine.
