Rare $2 Scrip Issued from the Choctaw Nation July 20, 1862

Fort Smith, AR- Unknown Issuer/Choctaw Nation $2 July 20, 1862
We have been unable to determine who the issuer was of this $2 piece of uniface scrip dated July 20, 1862 with a Choctaw Nation location that could be redeemed for Confederate Notes in Fort Smith. This note has pieces missing and has been repaired, leading to the PMG grade of Good 6 Net. Unfortunately, the primary missing piece is at the signature of the issuer, making it quite difficult to discern the name in order to perform a search of records. A very interesting piece with a boldly printed vignette of grain and farm implements at top center. This rare issue was not represented in the extensive Ford Collection.
