    Description

Fayetteville, AR - Holcomb & Barnard-Barnard's Drug Store $2.50 Jan. 17, 1862 Rothert 198-12. PCGS Fine Very Fine 20 Apparent.
This is a great odd denomination scrip note with an apothecary title and vignette combination. Printed on very thin brown paper. The paper quality is excellent for the type of scrip note. An ornamental border is all around with a mortar and pestle vignette at the left. Payable in "Confederate Notes." Holcomb signing as "Cashier" is curious, and perhaps the pair acted as private bankers as well. Countersigned on the back by Barnard. Noted with some "Small Edge Tears" that are confined to the far right wide margin.
Ex: Eric P. Newman Numismatic Education Society.

Truth Seeker: The Life of Eric P. Newman (softcover)
A powerful and intimidating dealer of the 1960s, backed by important colleagues, was accused of selling fraudulent gold coins and ingots to unsuspecting numismatists. Who would go up against a man like that and, over the course of decades, prove the fraud? Who would expose a widely respected scholar as a thief, then doggedly pursue recovery of coins that the scholar had stolen from an embarrassed numismatic organization, all over the objections of influential collectors who had bought coins with clouded titles? Eric P. Newman would - and did. Reserve your copy today.
