    Clarksville, AR- M. Rose, Son & Carey Mar. 1, 1862 Rothert 122-4
    The principals of this merchant partnership were probably Moreau Rose, his son Alexander Neil Rose, and Thomas F. Carey. The younger Rose served in Company C of the First Arkansas Mounted Rifles during the Civil War. The unit was formed in 1861, and so it is possible that the elder Rose and Carey were carrying on the business while the younger Rose was away. This rare note grades Very Good-Fine, with no repairs or meaningful damage noted. This is the first time we have offered a $1 from this issuer.
