    Boonsboro, AR- T.K. Kidd & Son 25¢ June 15, 1862 Rothert 75-1
In our 2010 FUN Auction, when we presented one of the most comprehensive Arkansas collections ever assembled, a 50¢ note from this issuer was included. Prior to that, our records indicate just this note had ever been offered at public auction, a 1994 CAA Auction. The 2010 description of the 50¢ piece included a brief history of this "tiny community, which was later incorporated into nearby Canehill. Cane Hill (the name was later condensed to Canehill) was the site of a Civil War battle fought just after this note was issued, and was also the site of a Presbyterian college established before the war." Rothert's research indicated Tandy K. Kidd started as a postmaster in nearby Bostonville. He lost that position when that postal location was discontinued in 1848, at which time he moved to Boonsboro. This piece is similar to the plate note in Rothert and the example we offered. It is printed on very thin paper, with a faint but remaining serial number and signature. PMG Very Good 10.
