Batesville, AR- Branch of the Bank of the State of Arkansas $20 Feb.(?) 1, 1839 G124 Rothert 31-3 Good-Very Good.
The branch in Batesville was in business from 1838-1843 when the bank closed or failed depending on one's point of view. This example was a demand note that saw extended circulation. It features diverse vignettes depicting women at the well, a steamboat, bison, and a Native American warrior. The note's bottom margin has several chips and a repaired tear that has tape stains. On balance the note is still quite presentable.
