    1862 $1 M. Mayers & Bro., Fort Smith, AR, Very Good. This is an interesting piece of two-state store scrip issued by the Mayer Brothers in Fort Smith, AR and pen signed by them and printed on brown paper. It was redeemable at several other emporiums in Arkansas as well as by two stores in Texas - Alexander & Allen in Sherman and J.M. Smoot in Denton, who died in 1862. This scrip is listed in the Rothert reference for Arkansas and the Medlar reference for Texas.
