Wilmington, DE- Bank of Wilmington and Brandywine $1 18__ G30 Proof PMG Choice Uncirculated 63.
The bank was in operation from 1810 until 1865 when it became the National Bank of Wilmington & Brandywine. The $1 features a large nautically themed vignette of a sailor seated on a wharf with a sextant and telescope. The corner counters are particularly well executed using Durand patented machines. This note is printed on India paper mounted on cardstock affixed to a Danforth Bald archive book card and has the usual POCs in the signature spaces. There were three examples of his design in the 1990 ABNCo Archives sale as part of Lot 167.
