Missouri Confederate Sutler issue - Keller Plate Note

    White Hare, MO- H. Horton 50¢ Sep. 2, 1862 Keller MO-SC050
    H. Horton was apparently a sutler attached to "General Rain's." Your cataloger believes this is probably Brigadier General James S. Rains of the Missouri State Guards who was relieved of command in October 1862 for "incompetence and insobriety." In any case a rare and interesting Confederate sutler issue that was payable in Confederate notes or "Missouri State Script(sic)". PCGS grades this Keller plate note Apparent Fine 12 due to splits and a missing lower left corner.
