Washington, DC- Columbia Bank $3 185_ as G4 Proof PMG Uncirculated 62.
The bank, an apparently a fraudulent institution, was in business for a short period of time between 1852 and 1855. The noteworthy features of the design are an oval portrait of Franklin and a large center vignette of Moneta reclining by a money chest. The note is printed on India paper mounted on cardstock with the usual POCs in the signature lines and a short edge tear at right center from the edge into the counter. Common as an issued note, but not so as a proof, with only two examples being part of the ABNCo Archives holdings.
