    Description

Washington City, DC- Virginia Bank of Washington City $2 18__ G4 Proof PMG Gem Uncirculated 65 EPQ.
It is believed that this bank never actually opened for business and is represented only by proof notes. The $2 has a vignette of Tellus at left and a large vignette of wild horses at center. There is a large gray TWO protector below. The note is printed on India paper mounted on cardstock that is, in turn, attached to a Danforth Bald archive book card. There were two examples of this note in the ABNCo Archives holdings that were dispersed in 1990. While there have been several offerings of modern proprietary proofs of the $2, we are not aware of any offerings of Archives proofs in the last decade. It is very likely that there are two extant proof examples of this note at present.
