Tiffin, OH- Seneca County Bank $3 18__ G4 Wolka 2533-04 PMG Choice Uncirculated 64.
The Seneca County Bank was organized as a so-called Independent Bank in 1847. It narrowly averted failure in 1851 before collapsing for good in 1857. The $3 is a semi-standard design for all of the Independent Banks. It features a portrait of Governor Edward Tiffin in the top loop of a large 3 and an oval portrait of Governor Jerimiah Morrow at right. Two oval female portraits also appear along with the state banking die. The note is printed on India paper with the usual small POCs in the signature lines. We currently count two surviving examples of this $3 proof from this issuer.
