Summerville, GA- Henley & Mitchell $1 August 1, 1862 PCGS Very Fine 30.
While it is virtually certain that this was a merchant partnership, period records have not revealed just exactly who these proprietors were. Perhaps a thorough search of local records will reveal more. What we can say is that this note is rare. Originally from the Alan Dorris Collection, this is the only example of this denomination that we have ever handled, with Dorris also indicating that this was the only example he had ever seen. This pleasant mid-grade example should fit nicely in any Georgia or Civil War collection.
