    A scarce early Missouri note signed as president by Aug(uste) Chouteau, the founder of the city of St. Louis. The vignette is of a bust of Thomas Jefferson with a capped liberty pole on the docks of a busy port. Other symbolism includes beehives and a large swarm of bees. This example grades PCGS Very Fine 30. We had a PCGS Apparent XF 40 example realize $998.75 last October.
