Description

Shoals of Ogechee, GA- Thomas Kendall $2 June 1, 1819
The "Shoals of Ogechee" were the site of the first woolen mill and iron foundry in Georgia, dating from 1794. A grist mill was opened sometime after 1812, with both edifices burned to the ground by Sherman's troops in 1864. The design is well put together for such an early note, with an excellent eagle vignette. PCGS grades this example Apparent Fine 12 due to small splits, tears, and repairs, none of which are obvious.
