Philadelphia, PA- Consolidation Bank $500 18__ as G16 as Hoober 305-234 Proof PMG Choice Uncirculated 64.
The focal point of this unique high denomination note is a portrait of a young General Winfield Scott surrounded by an ornate frame. (A much older Scott is usually portrayed on antebellum bank notes.) This is flanked by more pedestrian vignettes of a woman strewing flowers (Spring) and a woman feeding farm fowl. There are two red D protectors. The note is printed on India paper mounted on cardstock with the usual small POCs in the signature lines affixed to the original DW archive book card. It is virtually certain that this example is unique.
