    Description

Orange, NJ- Orange Bank in the County of Essex $2 18__ as G12a as Wait 1803 Proof PMG Choice Uncirculated 64.
The Orange Bank opened in 1828 and remained in business until 1865 when it became the Orange National Bank. Appropriately, this variety, which is printed on India paper, has an overall orange tint as well as a large orange and white TWO protector and a smaller white TWO - 2 - TWO white protector that is sharing space in the signature spaces with the usual small POCs. The portrait on the left is of Stephen D. Day, a New Jersey political figure, while a maiden lounges on bales at right. Seven examples of this variety appeared in the 1990 ABNCo Archives sale.
