    Description

Opelousas, LA- Town of Opelousas 5¢ Apr. 21, 1862 PCGS Apparent Choice About New 58.
This note was issued just four days before the state government decided to move the capital to the city from Baton Rouge. The capital remained in Opelousas until early 1863. The note was payable in either Confederate treasury notes or Louisiana bank notes when presented in sums of $5 or more. Printed on very thin paper, this note's survival in this condition is a minor miracle. PCGS notes only some mounting paper remnants on the back which affect nothing.
