    Description

North Granville, NY- New-York Traders Bank $1 Aug. 26, 1851 Proof PMG Superb Gem Unc 67 EPQ.
This bank was a short-lived firm, only in business from 1851-53 before closing. All of the notes for this bank are listed by Haxby as SENC. The $1 is attractively laid out, with text flowing up and over the central vignette of three craftsmen "solving the world's problems" with a harbor and town in the distance. Vignettes of Prosperity and a warship complete the major design elements. This note is printed on India paper mounted on a DB archive book card with the usual POCs in the signature lines. There were two examples of this design that were part of the lone uncut sheet on this bank in the 1990 ABNCo Archives sale. It is very likely that these are the only remaining $1 proof survivors on this bank.
