DescriptionCharleston, SC- Bank of the State of South Carolina 25¢ July 1, 1831 as G12 as Sheheen 470 Proof PMG About Uncirculated 55.
Wholly owned by the state, this bank served as he state's fiscal agent during its entire existence from 1812 to 1865. The 25¢ design has two dozing putti flanking an oval portrait of Lafayette and is printed on India paper mounted on light cardstock. Seven examples of this note, all part of a single sheet, appeared in Lot 1859 of the 1990 ABNCo Archives sale. A neat little proof note that will upgrade any collection to which it is added.
