    Description

New Orleans, LA- Bank of Commerce $2 May 5, 1862 G48a PMG About Uncirculated 50.
As the city fell to a Union naval task force at the end of April, 1862, the choice for the subject of the center vignette is an interesting one that probably provoked some push back from the city's residents. Very few of these notes from this series, however, made it into circulation and the bank failed in 1867. PMG notes a minor internal paper pull just below the B in BANK in the bank title.
