    Description

    Napoleonville, LA- E.O. Melancon 50¢ Feb. 4, 1862 PCGS Very Fine 30PPQ.
While some records show that E.O. Melancon was serving as Postmaster in 1851, his occupation when this note was issued a decade later is not yet discovered. The note is very scarce and its appearances in public auctions are infrequent. The note is fully issued with none of the often encountered condition distractions sometimes associated with Louisiana scrip notes from the Civil War era.
