    Description

Middlebury, VT- Bank of Middlebury Altered $2 Mar. 1, 1860 A5 Coulter 3 PMG About Uncirculated 55.
Altered from a $2 originally printed for the Southern Bank of Georgia in Bainbridge, the note had an attractive new bank name and location added in red-orange where the original information for Georgia had been erased. This is the Haxby plate note (page 2461). While PMG notes a few pinholes, this note saw little, if any, actual circulation in its reincarnation as an alleged Vermont issue.
