Lewiston, ME- Lewiston Falls Bank $100 18__ as G16 as Wait 27 Proprietary Proof PMG Choice Uncirculated 63.
The Lewiston Falls Bank opened in 1854 and remained in business until it became the First National Bank of Lewiston (Ch. 330) a decade later. The note depicts a stonemason, a view of the United States Capitol before remodeling began in 1855, and a cherub with a dolphin. It is uncertain if this design was ever issued. This Proprietary Proof, produced by the ABNCo in the 20th century from the original plate, is possibly the only way to acquire this design. The note is on card, attached to thicker card stock and shows a previous mounting. Rarity is unknown at present.
From the Charles R. Pease, Jr. Collection
