Kirtland, OH- Kirtland Safety Society Bank $5 Feb. 10, 1837 Rust 7 PMG Choice Very Fine 35.
The $5 and $10 Kirtland notes were printed from the second plate engraved at Underwood, Bald, Spencer & Hufty, N. York & Philad. in 1836 with $5A-$5B-$5C-$10B. At top center is a woodsman seated on a log, patting his dog. Identical ends show a boy carrying a shovel on his shoulder inside an oval. In the corners are identical "5" dies. This is the most available Kirtland note type with likely 200-225 known today. This offering is a bright and crisp example with just some light folds.
