Jamestown, IN- State Stock Bank $5 Apr. 3, 1854 G8 Wolka 965-11 Proof PMG Gem Uncirculated 65 EPQ, 7 POCs.
The bank was organized in 1853 and closed in 1855. It left $543 in outstanding circulation as of October 29, 1856. This $5 design features oval portraits of Franklin, Washington, and Jackson. The note is printed on India paper mounted on cardstock with the usual POCs in the signature lines. There were three examples of this design in the 1990 ABNCo Archives sale and Haxby was aware of the existence of this design in Proof form suggesting a surviving Proof population of perhaps 4-6 notes. The seven POCs removed only the India paper on this $5.
