The bank was chartered in 1856 and led a rather checkered existence, primarily floating its circulation in the vicinity of Memphis, TN. The bank suspended in 1858. This $5 design features a striking overall red-orange lace tint and large orange and white FIVE - 5 - FIVE protector that complement an oval vignette of Ceres and an oval portrait of Jefferson. The note is printed on India paper with the usual small POCs in the signature lines. This variety was represented by four examples in the 1990 ABNCo Archives sale.
