    Description

Gettysburg, PA- Bank of Gettysburg $50 18__ as G76 as Hoober 136-11 Proof PMG Choice Uncirculated 64.
The bank was organized in 1814 and survived the Battle of Gettysburg during the Civil War to become the Gettysburg National Bank in 1864. The focal point of the $50 design is a vignette of three men taking a break to "solve to the world's problems." The note is printed on India paper mounted on cardstock with the usual POCs in the signature lines. This is still affixed to a Danforth Bald archive book card. We believe that there are perhaps two or three known surviving examples of this design.
