High Grade Salt Lake City Corporation $2 Note

    G. S. L. City, U.T. - Salt Lake City Corporation $2 June 9, 1868 Rust 113 Nyholm 125. PCGS Extremely Fine 40 PPQ.
This next series from G.S.L. City differs from the previous and removes the word "Great" from the title. An attractive lithographed series, printed on both sides by J.D. Seymour, Kennard & Hay, Engr., New York. At the bottom of the face are oxen, flanked by green protector lathe work rectangles over denomination text. The title is curved above the vignette. The ornate and deep green emblem back shows protector "2" at the center, with the title across top, and PAYABLE IN U.S. CURRENCY along the bottom. This is also a very scarce type and in superior grade; it exceeds the VF-EF example from the Ford VI Sale, Lot 652 at $2,012.50. Perfectly centered on both sides and impressive for the type.

Truth Seeker: The Life of Eric P. Newman (softcover)
A powerful and intimidating dealer of the 1960s, backed by important colleagues, was accused of selling fraudulent gold coins and ingots to unsuspecting numismatists. Who would go up against a man like that and, over the course of decades, prove the fraud? Who would expose a widely respected scholar as a thief, then doggedly pursue recovery of coins that the scholar had stolen from an embarrassed numismatic organization, all over the objections of influential collectors who had bought coins with clouded titles? Eric P. Newman would - and did. Reserve your copy today.
