    Haxby Plate Note

    Elkton, MD- Farmers and Merchants Bank of Cecil County $10 Nov. 10, 1864 G10b Very Fine;
    Greensborough, MD- Farmers and Merchants Bank of Greensborough $3 Aug. 15, 1862 G6b Fine.
    The very attractive red and black Elkton note, printed by National Bank Note Co., was issued in 1864, very late in the state banks of issue era and also served as the plate note in Haxby's catalog (page 684). The Greensborough note was printed by rival ABNCo in green and black and is typical of the artistry employed in the 1860s. The former note has faint traces of mounting adhesive residue on the back while the latter has a pin or tack hole hidden in the lower left and upper right corners. (Total: 2 notes)
