    Description

Detroit, MI- Michigan Insurance Company $50 18__ Remainder G28a Lee DET-4-7 PMG About Uncirculated 55.
The company was one of the few bright spots in the story of Michigan's antebellum banks of issue. Organized in 1834, it survived both wars and financial dislocations to become the Michigan Insurance Bank (1860), the National Insurance Bank (1865), and finally the First National Bank of Detroit (1869). The note has a splendid panoramic vignette of Liberty watching an angel with two other allegorical women.
