Canton, OH- Stark County Bank at Canton, Ohio $10 18__ as G16 Wolka 0280-06 Proof PMG Uncirculated 61.
The bank opened in 1851 as a free bank and remained in business until around 1863 when it voluntarily liquidated. The design incorporates a male portrait as well as a large vignette of ten people representing various professions (including a fireman) and allegorical themes. The number of persons was intentionally made equal to the denomination. The note is printed on India paper mounted on cardstock with the usual small POCs in the signature lines. PMG notes several tears radiating from the POCs. There was one example of this design that was part of Lot 1426 in the 1990 ABNCo Archives sale. Very rare and likely unique.
