    Description

Burlington, NJ- Burlington Bank $50 Aug. 30, 1855 as G16 as Wait 240 Proprietary Proof PMG Choice Uncirculated 64 EPQ.
The bank was incorporated in 1856 and closed in 1865. This attractive design incorporates two male portraits (one is of Edwin A. Stevens) and a large vignette of a passenger train with industrial buildings in the distance. This is a so-called Proprietary Proof, printed by ABNCo, using the original plate, during the 20th century. In some cases like this, the only realistic way to have a design is via such a later impression.
