Bucksport, ME- Bucksport Bank $2 Oct. 10, 1854 as G6a as Wait 4 PMG Superb Gem Unc 67 EPQ.
The bank was organized in 1854 and remained in business until becoming the Bucksport National Bank in 1865. The $2 design has a vignette of two farm farm girls lifting a large sheaf over their heads and another of a large sailing vessel. There are two red 2 protectors as well. The note is printed on India paper with the usual small POCs in the signature lines. There were six examples of this variety with the red protectors in the 1990 ABNCo Archives sale. This is one of the nicest examples we have seen and obviously PMG concurs, adjudging the note to be worthy of a 67 EPQ grade.
