    Description

    Face and Back Proofs

Bordentown, NJ- Bordentown Banking Co. $100 18__ as G12 Proof; Back Proof PMG Choice Uncirculated 64; PMG Gem Uncirculated 65 EPQ.
The $100 face proof reflects the bank's status from 1851-1854 as a Free Bank, with bonds securing the circulation being deposited with the State Treasurer. The back may or may not have been part of the design for notes from this early period. We can say that it was used for the later Chartered Bank issues (1855-65). The face proof has the usual small POCs in the signature spaces; both pieces are mounted on cardstock.
From the Charles R. Pease, Jr. Collection (Total: 2 notes)
