Bath, ME- Bath Bank $1 18__ as G2a Wait 3 Proof PMG Gem Uncirculated 65 EPQ.
The Bath Bank was reincarnated and chartered in 1855. It remained in business until 1864 when it became the Bath National Bank (Ch. 494). The note, printed on India paper with the usual small POCs in the signature lines, has large vignettes of a Native American warrior and a large group of sailing vessels. About a half dozen of this $1 variety (with no red protector) were scattered across several lots in th 1990 ABNCo Archives sale and appear to be providing the source for more recent public auction appearances (which are not numerous).
